Come learn and have fun with Round the Mountain juried member Gino Di Dio. Inspiration will come from his original Cardinal painting. Participants will learn how to paint this winter scene on a 12 x12 canvas using acrylic paint. All supplies included as well as instruction. This is a fun painting class with a social atmosphere. Dress for painting and fun! Please arrive 15 minutes early. Pre-registration and payment in advance required. Space is limited. Visit Abingdon Virginia is hosting its first-ever short film competition! Abingdon is known for its history, culture, arts, and outdoor recreation and we re looking for films that reflect that spirit. All entries are required to be shot or set in Abingon. All entries should somehow address our tourism tagline, It s Always Playtime in Abingdon. Participating films will be judged by a jury of specialized judges, based on the following criteria: Cinematography, Screenplay Acting, Editing, Overall Production Value, and connection to the contest s central theme, It s Always Playtime in Abingdon Cash prizes will be given for first, second and third place. UVa-Wise and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center are excited to bring Major League Hacking s Local Hack Day to Abingdon, Virginia for the very first time! Join us on Saturday, December 3 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. for this awesome 12-hour event that kicks off MLH s 2017 Hack-A-Thon season! What is Local Hack Day? Simply put, hacking is creative problem solving. A hackathon brings people together to use technology to transform ideas into reality. Local Hack Day is a global event that brings together thousands of students from around the world, each concurrently participating in their own 12-hour hack day. To keep all the hack days connected, MLH will be livestreaming the whole thing! While participants learn about new technologies and work to tackle a problem of their choosing, they will have the opportunity to connect with other hackers across the globe. Interactive chatrooms and other fun activities will make this a memorable day for everyone involved. If you re a teacher, high school or college student, or just someone who s interested in exploring and developing technology, Local Hack Day is perfect for you! Participate as an individual or join a team start a brand new project or bring something that you ve been working on it s all up to you!
