Tickets: $20 Radio Bristol focuses on new recordings and projects from nationally recognized artists before a live audience in the Performance Theater at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. On Friday, May 5, Radio Bristol is proud to feature new music from multi-talented singer-songwriter, actor, and co-founder of the famed Down Home listening room, Ed Snodderly. Ed will be performing music from his latest release Record Shop. ABOUT ED SNODDERLY The Tennessee native looks a bit like Doc from Back to the Future with shorter hair and Buddy Holly glasses. His voice is the sonic equivalent of an old denim shirt, creased and worn and reassuring. While folk doesn t quite capture Snodderly s essence he is more singer-songwriter steeped in country and bluegrass he is nevertheless finely tuned to the eccentricities of traditional music. His writing style is unique. The songs are original, yet familiar. His guitar playing holds those ancestral rhythms. He makes primitive banjo and drums sound like the most obvious combination in the world. Whatever you want to call him Alt-Country Singer? Old-Time Musician? Folkie? Ed Snodderly is proof that Southern music, with all its old peculiarities, is alive and kicking. Several of his songs have been recorded by musicians such as Sam Bush, Missy Raines, Jerry Douglas and John Cowan. The Country Music Hall Of Fame Museum honored him by inscribing a verse of his song, The Diamond Stream, upon the wall in the Hall Of Honor.

While a feuding Fairy King and Queen are at war, their paths are crossed by Bottom, Quince and their friends. Chief mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure that the course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare&rsquo s amusing comedy. Download study guide. Director s Notes When I start work on a play, I&rsquo m always looking for its source of life. What is it that every character has in common? What is it that flows through each moment and makes it tick. What is the blood in the veins of the play? And, in this case, it&rsquo s, of course, love. Love, the mysterious. Love, the ridiculous. Love the painful and the sublime. There is evidence that Shakespeare wrote this play to be performed at a wedding, and this used to bother me. Why, I thought, would he make love look so foolish at a love celebration? The play points out how nonsensical we can be about love: The humans fall in and out of love so easily and ferociously that it&rsquo s beyond laughable. The play that the mechanicals put on to honor love is a tumble of silliness. The fairy queen ends up literally in love with an ass. You get my point. But I think this is how we look from a distance. Love is what shapes the biggest decisions of our lives: where we call home, what we do, and who we do it with... and we give this uncontrollable, loopy thing the reins, happily. Love also shows up in this play as conflict, as motherly love, as protection, as bacchanalia, as a force that can change the weather&mdash Shakespeare serves up such a veritable souffle? of different kinds of love that we are sure to see ourselves somewhere in the mix. For we&rsquo ve all walked into those woods and gotten lost, been ridiculous and come back out, blinking in the light, changed forever by what we learned about ourselves at the hands of love. Join us as we go back in time! Union and Confederate forces will be deciding the fate of East Tennessee at the home of Confederate Senator Landon Carter Haynes.
