2. Grown & Gathered
Sunday, July 23rd, 2017
@Downtown Johnson City
Johnson City, TN
The Downtown Johnson City Foundation is fusing farm, fresh food with a good cause for their annual farm-to-table experience. The intimate dinner, Grown & Gathered, will benefit Downtown Johnson City Foundation s efforts towards downtown improvements. Grown & Gathered will take place on Sunday, July 23. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails in the amphitheater and the dinner will be served in the Pavilion at Founders Park. Grown & Gathered is a seasonal feast prepared with a rodizio flair by Jamie Dove and Elise Clair and their team from The Main Street Pizza Company and River Creek Farm. The dinner will feature the bounty from 30 local farms and producers. This year, portions of the meal will be served rodizio style, allowing each guest to try all twelve cuts of local grass fed beef, poultry, pork and lamb. While the service will be Brazilian in style, the flavors themselves will represent a mash up of the years Jamie spent living and working in South Korea with the Appalachian roots of the co-creators themselves. Look for bold, spicy, unique flavors, along with traditional peak season Appalachian garden favorites prepared in ways that compliment the grilled meat parade. Vegetarian tickets are also available, and these will include over a dozen grilled pseudo meats and vegetables in place of the meat cuts, such as saitan sausuges, Hempeh, soy, and more. The food will be grilled on site allowing for maximum freshness. Tickets for the farm-to-table dinner will be $75 per person. Advance tickets for those who attended the 2016 event will go on sale June 14. Tickets to the general public will be available June 16. Last year was a sell out, so we recommend getting tickets early. Tickets can be purchased at the WCEDC offices, 300 E. Main Street, Suite 406, Johnson City or on Eventbrite: https: www.eventbrite.com e grown-and-gathered-tickets-35220123337?aff ehomecard Sponsored by Ameriprise Financial The Torbett Group

@Downtown Kingsport Association
Kingsport, TN
Busking Around The World revolves around the idea of promoting the talents of local performers (musicians, dancers, artists, craftspeople, entertainers, etc.) and encouraging more of a vibrant, walkable downtown area. The term Busking represents the age old tradition of street performing, where various forms of entertainers would play for tips on busy corners and sidewalks in downtown areas. This year we re expanding our mindset, incorporating a multi-cultural component that promotes diversity. So, we re going to represent and celebrate the many different cultures of the world. Crowds will be able to walk around downtown on July 15th and immerse themselves in the cuisine, entertainment, crafts, and atmosphere of numerous cultures from across the world. We re very excited for our second year!

@Abingdon Muster Grounds
Abingdon, VA
LIVING HISTORY AT THE ABINGDON MUSTER GROUNDS Find Your Trail! Find Your Ancestor! Hear ye! Hear ye! Overmountain Men and their families will come to life at the Abingdon Muster Grounds, July 22, 2017 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. This event will highlight the importance of the Washington County, Virginia militia and the Revolutionary War Battle of Kings Mountain, 1780. There will be demonstrations related to life in backcountry Virginia during colonial times. This event has activities for the whole family! Join the Overmountain Victory Trail Association, Blacks Fort Chapter-DAR, and General William Campbell Chapter-SAR as we bring history to life. Certified by the National Park Service as the northern trailhead of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, the Abingdon Muster Grounds is a picturesque 9-acre park with significant history. When a call was issued for militia to respond to British Major Patrick Ferguson s threat that, he would march his army over the mountains, hang their leaders, and lay their country waste with fire and sword, men from all over the region moved into action. Under the leadership of Colonel William Campbell, 400 Virginians set out to join patriot militia from modern-day Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. After a two week campaign, the Overmountain Men fought the Battle of Kings Mountain with overwhelming success. Thomas Jefferson said it was the turn of the tide of success which terminated the Revolutionary War, with the seal of our independence . The Keller Interpretive Center, located at the Abingdon Muster Grounds, houses southwest Virginia s premier Revolutionary War exhibits. Artifacts associated with backcountry Virginia and the Battle of Kings Mountain are on display.
