Capitol Theatre
Classics at The Capitol kicks off its 2017 season with a trio of films starring one of the most beloved movie stars of all time, Cary Grant. Since his acting years in Hollywood--the early 1930s through the late 1960s--Cary Grant has come not only the epitome of the leading male actor, but also a hallmark in style. The Capitol will be presenting three of Grant's films, including one of his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, on the first Thursday of each month beginning in March. "Charade" (1963) March 2nd--Often called the best Hitchcock movie Hitchcock never made, "Charade" directed by Stanley Donen (Singing In The Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers), features Grant in his only screen pairing with Audrey Hepburn. "Charade" mixes suspense thriller, comedy, and romance into one film. An expertly crafted cat and mouse game with Grant and Hepburn caught up in the search for $250,000, that also involves three unsavory characters and the CIA. "His Girl Friday" (1940) April 6th--A fast talking screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks, Rosalind Russell is Grant's co-star in this story of cutthroat newspaper tactics as a hard-boiled editor (Grant) is about to lose his star reporter, and ex-wife (Russell) for good...
