Johnson City, TN
Participants ages 6-14 learn about their local history through historic-based crafts, games, music, storytelling, and trips on the nature & the cave. First week-Native American History Second Week-Revolutionary History, Third Week-Civil War History. Each week is $100 for non-members and $90 for members. Sessions run 9am-2pm, Monday through Friday. Aftercare available. Applications available in spring and can be found on our website or at the site.

Randa, a perfectionist and workaholic Dot, still reeling from her husband&rsquo s recent demise earthy and boisterous Marlafaye, a good ol&rsquo Texas gal and new to town, Jinx, a spunky fireball, offers her services as a life coach for these women. Hilarious misadventures and the occasional liquid refreshment lead the ladies to discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment. Director s Notes &ldquo Life is short. Spend it with people who make you laugh.&rdquo Despite what we&rsquo re told as kids, making new friends can be hard, especially as adults. We don&rsquo t always have built in ways to meet them like we did when we were little, and we are more settled in who we are and sometimes less likely to change to let a new person in. There are so many things that keep us apart: politics, family, fear of judgment, busy schedules, a focus on technology and achievement. We run around staring into our iPhones all day in a way that cuts out even the most happenstance of conversations and connections. And yet, sometimes there are people that come into our lives who break down all those walls. Their humor and honesty disarm us and open us, and suddenly, we&rsquo re taking risks and having fun in ways we never saw coming. In these divided times, it&rsquo s maybe the most life-affirming thing we can do&mdash to forge real friendships. To celebrate all the things that are common between all of us, and to laugh at the things that, at first glance, made us think we were so different from each other. June 10 (Saturday) starting at 9:00. I will post the class list for this show closer to the date. Each class will have a $10 entry fee with a cash split for the prizes. The classes will be easy and fun, and the whole thing will take place in our arena. Pack your lunch or buy lunch at the farm. Rain date will be Sunday.

Ralph Slatton: Animal Nature Opening Reception: June 1, 2017 from 6 8 p.m. June 2 September 17, 2017 Ralph Slatton s intaglio prints, notable for their raw, unbridled energy, power, and emotion, evoke at once a sense of unease and awe. His animal forms disguise some moral truth, human condition, personal dilemma, or conundrum. It is my intention, Ralph says, to take the viewer down a visual and psychological rabbit hole. A place where animals wear disguises of both the strong and weak, experiencing the freedom of entrapment, and generally revel in the dark side of human foibles. Slatton is a professor at East Tennessee State University, where he spent nearly thirty years teaching drawing, printmaking, and comic book illustration. His works have been exhibited in galleries across the United States and around the world including Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Chile, and the United Kingdom.
