Tickets: $20 Radio Bristol focuses on new recordings and projects from nationally recognized artists before a live audience in the Performance Theater at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. On Friday, May 5, Radio Bristol is proud to feature new music from multi-talented singer-songwriter, actor, and co-founder of the famed Down Home listening room, Ed Snodderly. Ed will be performing music from his latest release Record Shop. ABOUT ED SNODDERLY The Tennessee native looks a bit like Doc from Back to the Future with shorter hair and Buddy Holly glasses. His voice is the sonic equivalent of an old denim shirt, creased and worn and reassuring. While folk doesn t quite capture Snodderly s essence he is more singer-songwriter steeped in country and bluegrass he is nevertheless finely tuned to the eccentricities of traditional music. His writing style is unique. The songs are original, yet familiar. His guitar playing holds those ancestral rhythms. He makes primitive banjo and drums sound like the most obvious combination in the world. Whatever you want to call him Alt-Country Singer? Old-Time Musician? Folkie? Ed Snodderly is proof that Southern music, with all its old peculiarities, is alive and kicking. Several of his songs have been recorded by musicians such as Sam Bush, Missy Raines, Jerry Douglas and John Cowan. The Country Music Hall Of Fame Museum honored him by inscribing a verse of his song, The Diamond Stream, upon the wall in the Hall Of Honor.

Check out the Capitol Theare s new state-of-the-art laser projector when the Classics at The Capitol continues. This month we see the final installment in a trio of films starring one of the most beloved movie stars of all time, Cary Grant. Since his acting years in Hollywood--the early 1930s through the late 1960s--Cary Grant has become not only the epitome of the leading male actor, but also a hallmark in style. Join us on the first Thursday in May! Notorious (1946) May 4th--Directed by The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains co-star in this romantic tale of espionage. Grant plays T.R. Develin, a US agent who recruits the American daughter of a Nazi war criminal (Bergman) to spy on Alexander Sebastian (Rains), a Nazi hiding out post war in Brazil. As Grant and Bergman s characters begin to fall for one another, the stakes get higher. One of Hitchcock s most memorable films, Notorious is a must for any serious film fan. Each film will be preceded with an introduction by Andy Ross, a local columnist and film writer, whose work can be see regionally in The Loafer and online at The Retro Set. I m thrilled and delighted to once again be at The Capitol talking about classic film Ross says, I can t think of a better kick off to the 2017 season than films featuring Cary Grant. All seen as they were meant to be seen, on the big screen. Show Time is 7:00 PM, Cost is $5.00 and tickets are available at the door.

Join us as we go back in time! Union and Confederate forces will be deciding the fate of East Tennessee at the home of Confederate Senator Landon Carter Haynes. Come watch to see which side triumphs over the other. Then take an exciting tour of the house and explore the historic grounds. The battle Starts at 2:00pm each day. Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children twelve and under.
