Weird and wonderful street performers will fill downtown Abingdon for the 3rd Annual Main Street Busker Fest on Saturday, September 2nd from 12-5. We ve lined up acts from all over the region & country, including several new circus acts, to thrill your senses. From fire-eaters to magicians, contortionists, mimes, one-man bands and everything in between, there won t be a corner of the Main Street that will disappoint. The festival is FREE! Enjoy a weekend in our beautiful town, voted by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Towns in the South. There is something for all ages! The Imagination Station, presented by Paper Moon Studio & Barter Youth Academy is all for kids & kids at heart from 11-3pm on the Barter Green. Join them for FREE interactive craft making and improv workshops. Wear your costumes & bring your friends! If you have a little performer on your hands, they can busk too!

The Mountain States Dragon Boat Festival is a free, all-day family event that has grown into a tradition for the Tri-Cities region. The Dragon Boat Festival events include all-day competitive races of up to 40 local dragon boat teams with a final championship round, opening parade of dragon boat teams, food trucks and Kids Race. Proceeds from the 2017 Dragon Boat Festival will benefit Circle of Hope. The Circle of Hope program provides extra resources to cancer patients and families who may need financial help while receiving medical care. Join the fight! Johnson City, TN
North and South India come together in the Wind Whisperers of India, featuring Ronu Majumdar from North India on Bansuri flute and Rajhesh Vaidhya from South India on saraswati veena, the multi-stringed chordophone. The virtuoso duo performs the ancient art of jugalbandi, a duet of two solo musicians. Majumdar is a Grammy nominee and has recorded extensively for Bollywood artists. Vaidhya is known not only for his blistering speed, but also for his use of electric and amplified instruments. He also is involved in recording for cinema. Other whisperers Vinod V.R. Venkataraman, on mridangam, and Harshad Kanetkar on tabla will provide percussion and additional traditional instrumentation.

Each member learned their trade of music in the beautiful mountains of Maggie Valley, NC. Sisters Whitney & Caroline Miller grew up in a home where playing the piano was a daily requirement. Daily requirements turned to passion as they hit the streets to street busk. After years of busking, The Maggie Valley Band was officially formed and decided to take it inside-to venues. TMVB is currently in the studio for their album under the direction of Grammy nominated producer, David Mayfield. TMVB s career has taken them as far as New York to Southern Florida and partnering with great & diverse acts such as: David Mayfield, Black Lillies,Indigo Girls, Lonesome Riverband and many more!
