Friday, September 8th, 2017
@Capitol Theatre
Greeneville, TN
The Greeneville Theatre Guild presents one of Agatha Christie s most well-known mysteries, And Then There Were None -- with the original ending! When Christie originally adapted her novel for the stage, she felt the ending of the novel wouldn t play well on the stage, She also thought theatre-goers would rather see a play with a happy ending because of the recent ravages of World War II, so she rewrote the ending for the play version of the tale. In recent years, her estate has published an alternate ending, based on the original novel, and director Frank Mengel has chosen to present this alternate ending on our state here in Greeneville. Don t miss the chance to see the ending rarely seen by theatre-goers! Mengel has assembled a cast of both theatre veterans and newcomers to the Greeneville Theatre Guild. Returning for another show with the GTG are Larry Bunton, Jeff Klepper, Brenda Litchfield, Cathleen Charleson, Cole Wilt, Jessie Beth Miller, and Zach Gass. A veteran performer from the Little Theatre of Greeneville, Dell Hughes, is making a return to the stage as well. And the Theatre Guild welcomes Amani Owusu, Caleb Addington, and David Dupler in their GTG debut roles. Performances are at the Capitol Theatre on Main Street in Greeneville, September 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:00 pm with Sunday matinees on September 10 and 16 at 2:00 pm. Adult tickets are $12. Seniors (65 ), children, and student tickets are $10. They may be purchased online at www.greenevilletheatreguild.org or reserved in advance by calling 423-470-2792. Tickets may also be purchased at the door before each show.

Saturday, September 9th, 2017
@Barter Theatre
Abingdon, VA
Book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux ?Original Concept and Direction by Floyd Mutrux Inspired by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins Developed and produced at Village Theatre, Issaquah, Washington Robb Hunt, Producer & 8212 Steve Tomkins, Artistic Director Originally presented by Seaside Music Theatre ?TippanDavidson, Producer & 8212 Lester Malizia, Artistic Director &ldquo Million Dollar Quartet&rdquo is inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock & 39 n& 39 roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. &ldquo Million Dollar Quartet&rdquo brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including " Blue Suede Shoes," " Fever," " That& 39 s All Right," " Sixteen Tons," " Great Balls of Fire," " Walk the Line," " Whole Lotta Shakin& 39 Goin& 39 On," " Who Do You Love?," " Matchbox," " Folsom Prison Blues," &ldquo Hound Dog" and more. Note All cigarettes used in the show are non-tobacco herbal cigarettes and are just used for effect. Director s Notes Music is defined as: the art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. Simply put: music is the sound of our very soul. I believe it follows that Rock & 39 n Roll is the soul& 39 s most primal expression. It burst from the seams of the late 1940& 39 s and would, by the mid-50& 39 s, cause a revolution of hip swiveling teens to scare the daylights out of their parents. At the time our play takes place, this Sound Revolution was just beginning. And Sam Phillips was its greatest architect. Sam knew the awesome power of music from the time he was in grade school. The favorite nephew of his mute Aunt Emma, he learned that rhythmic gestures could make a wordless language. He soon understood that the language of music could transcend the borders of the physical and of social status, color, age, and even time. Sam& 39 s Uncle Silas (not his uncle at all, but a black man who& 39 d fallen on hard times) moved into the Phillips& 39 house when Sam was just a boy. Sam& 39
