Kingsport Pops! In honor of Kingsport s 100th Anniversary, their annual July 4th event will be taken to the next level in downtown Kingsport. This year, the Symphony of the Mountains will be joining in for a live performance with guest artists Carla Karst and local composer Andrew Kramer. THIS IS A FREE EVENT. TICKETS ARE NOT REQUIRED. 4. Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser For I.a. Camp

We will be hosting a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the summer I.A. camps. Pick up or eat in options available from our Emporium, 146 Broad Street. Cost is $10pp. The Patriotic Tribute will be performed at the theatre at 7:00pm. Make it a nice night out come eat and support a worthy cause and enjoy a wonderful show! We also need donations of homemade desserts for this evening. Thanks so much!

Slocumb Galleries Curatorial Fellow and Interns Moira Frazier, Cheyenne Good and Amber Howard presents multimedia group exhibition of Northeast TN artists at Our Appalachia: Community and Innovations from June 26 to July 18 at Slocumb Galleries and from July 3 to 28, at Tipton Gallery. Reception is on July 6, Thursday from 5-7 pm at Slocumb Galleries with TN Arts Commission s Program Director for Visual Arts, Craft and Media Krishna Adams as guest of honor. The exhibit features work by artists from various towns within the TriCities region (and bordering NC) and various art organizations whose work either explore the concept of communities or embody innovative artistic techniques. Some of the artists include John May (Morristown), Pattie Lawrence, Anne Thwaites, Wayne Culberston, Don Morris, Jeffery Stoner (Kingsport), Mira Gerard, Vanessa Mayoraz, Andrew Scott Ross (ETSU Art Johnson City), Theresa Markiw (Tanasi Erwin), Jim Stagner (Watauga Art League), Mindy Herrin (TN Craft state of Franklin), Jocelyn Matthews (Johnson City), Jeanine Marchand, Alex Marclay, Shane Fenland (Penland), Megan King (Hispanic Appalachia) and Randy Sanders (ETSU Reece Museum), among others. The public is invited to attend the reception and view the exhibitions. Tipton Gallery will be open during the July 7, First Friday from 6 to 8 pm and by appointment.

6. TWC First Friday Drum Circle

July 7th. The Warriors Canvas invites the JC Community Drum Circle to form up in front of The Warriors Canvas for First Friday Downtown from 6 PM to 8 PM. This will be in the street. I have already talked with the Hoopers and they are up for it. Now let s see if we can bring a beat for them. TWC is going to have to look at how many chairs we have. We are looking at having 10 - 12 fold up chairs available. TWC is 2 doors down from Nelson s, in the same block as Hands-On Museum. Main Street will be closed off at 6 PM. If needed, you can drop off your equipment at TWC then find a parking spot. If it runs as usual, I should be there at around 5:15 - 5:30 to allow for the drop off. If there are any questions, please ask on this post and I will try to answer them.

The Community Center of Abingdon will host evening contra dances throughout the summer. A live caller and band will be on hand for added fun. All ages and levels are welcome. Dances will be held from 7-10pm on Saturday May 13, June 10 and 24, July 8, August 12 and 26. A free beginners lesson will take place at 6:30 on respective dates. Tickets $7, $5 for students and $20 for families of all sizes. Snacks will be available for purchase. Come as you are wear soft flexible shoes for dancing. Come to dance or just to listen and watch. No partner is necessary. All dances are taught. This dance is smoke and alcohol free.
