Brian Culbertson is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, writer and producer who crosses genres between contemporary jazz, R&B and funk. Heralding from the musically rich city of Chicago, he began his musical studies at the early age of 8 on piano and quickly picked up several other instruments by age 12 including drums, trombone, bass, and euphonium. Inspired by the great R&B Jazz Pop artists of the 70 s like Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Chicago, David Sanborn, and others, Brian Culbertson started composing original music for his 7th grade piano recital and hasn t stopped having self-produced 16 solo albums, most of which have topped the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts. Having worked and performed with countless industry all-stars like Michael McDonald, Chris Botti, Ledisi, Barry Manilow, Herb Alpert, Natalie Cole, Chuck Brown, and Bootsy Collins just to name a few, Brian has received numerous awards including being nominated for a 2012 NAACP Image Award and a 2012 Soul Train Award. Also in 2012, he founded the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway now in its fifth year. This performance is a fundraising event for Niswonger Children s Hospital.

7. Capitol Kids Theatre Camp

The Capitol Theater in Downtown Greeneville, TN will host a series of theatre camps, called Capitol Kids, for young actors ages 5 to 18 the last week of June. All sessions will be taught by theatre veterans Steve and Erin Hensley Schultz. During the week, Campers will have their own script, and own performances on Friday evening, June 30. Which is the final day of camp. Steve and Erin Schultz have been teaching children s theatre for over a dozen years, having founded the Young Actors Company of Easley South Carolina and the East Tennessee Young Actors Studio. They have taught over 1,000 students collectively, and staged nearly 100 different productions with young actors. Classes are arranged for ages 5 to 9, 9 to 12, and 12 to 18. Each age group will have lessons tailored to their age and experience. Every class will end in a full production on Friday, June 30th. This production is free to the public. Classes will be held June 26-June 30. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged! June 26 June 30: 9:15 to 11:00 Ages 5 to 9 (Capitol Kids) AGES 5 to 9 Capitol Kids Campers will learn the basics of theatre history, storytelling, and will learn to write their very own script! They will work on becoming a character, movement, improvisation, as well as the behind the scenes work of designing and making their own costumes, props, and set! The week will end with a performance of their original play in front of their parents and invited guests. 11:30 to 2:00 Ages 9-12 (Capitol Company) AGES 9 to 12- Capitol Company From the audition to rehearsals to taking their final bows, this camp will give young actors the tools they need to put on a show! Students will spend their week learning theatre history, vocabulary, and storytelling, and writing their own script with their own characters, focusing on movement, voice, and characterization. Their week will include an in-depth improvisation workshop, as well as an audition workshop. They will design and create their own props, costumes, and set for the original play they will perform on the final day of camp for an audience of their parents and invited guests. 3:00 to 6:00 Ages 12 to 18 (Capitol Players) AGES 12 to 18- Capitol Players For older students, in addition to learning theatre history, vocabulary, etiquette, and storytelling, their week will

By popular demand, we are offering a new Kid s in The Kitchen Cooking Camp this year for ages 8-12. Modeled after our popular Sizzlin in The Kitchen Summer Teen Camp, this camp will be geared to younger children, but with the same format of having a different chef teach an exciting subject each day. From baking to breakfast to fixing lunch, snacks and in between, the kids will learn about simple knife skills, kitchen safety, proper ways to read recipes, measuring, and basic skills.
