BACKCOUNTRY COLONIAL DAY CAMP 2017 Life in Backcountry Colonial Virginia and the Battle of Kings Mountain The Abingdon Muster Grounds will host a free day camp, June 26-30, 2017 for children ages 9-11. Come learn about life in the Backcountry of Virginia in 1780 from interpreters in period dress! Activities will include educational presentations, fun and games, and hands-on crafts. Only 25 spots are available so sign-up today! Snacks and lunches will be provided. Registration forms can be picked up at the Keller Interpretive Center at the Abingdon Muster Grounds. Camp Courage is a free, one-day camp that helps kids who have lost loved ones, like a grandparent, parent, or sibling, and is open to children throughout Northeast Tennessee, kindergarten through eigth grade. If you know a child who has recently experienced the loss of a loved one, please consider joining us at Camp Courage. Through listening, sharing and participating, campers will learn how to handle grief. They will also learn coping skills that can lead to healing. Kibbi, a very special therapy dog, will once again participate to help children express and sort through their emotions. The camp is run by Mountain States Hospice and thanks to a seven year partnership with Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, we are committed to supporting children who have experienced loss. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Butler, Mountain States Hospice chaplain, at 423-431-7663. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED & MUST BE RECEIVED BY JUNE 2nd.

Being a carpenter and musician, he brings these skills together to offer Crystal Singing Bowl accompaniment for his asana classes. The singing bowls offer a deep relaxation element that help you get more intimate with yourself throughout your practice. The emphasis in his classes focuses on deepening the relationship between the intentional breath and the intentional movement of the body.

We will be hosting a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the summer I.A. camps. Pick up or eat in options available from our Emporium, 146 Broad Street. Cost is $10pp. The Patriotic Tribute will be performed at the theatre at 7:00pm. Make it a nice night out come eat and support a worthy cause and enjoy a wonderful show! We also need donations of homemade desserts for this evening. Thanks so much!

A dual reception for two exhibtions: Revisting WWI: One Hundred Year Later & Summer Craft 2017. In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the United States entering the First World War (1914-1918) on April 6, 1917, the Reece Museum, in partnership with the Museum at Mountain Home on the VA campus, features artifacts from this historic and also devastating conflict. Curated by John Griggs, a Reece Museum student worker who graduated in May of this year, this exhibition delves into the conflict focusing on local residents who supported the allied effort. Revisiting World War I: One Hundred Years Later will continue through July 14. Summer Craft 2017 is an exhibition featuring the members of the Northeast Chapter of Tennessee Craft. Various media will be represented from East Tennessee artists and artisans. The exhibition will open on June 19 and continue through July 21.
