Abingdon, VA
The Community Center of Abingdon will host evening contra dances throughout the summer. A live caller and band will be on hand for added fun. All ages and levels are welcome. Dances will be held from 7-10pm on Saturday May 13, June 10 and 24, July 8, August 12 and 26. A free beginners lesson will take place at 6:30 on respective dates. Tickets $7, $5 for students and $20 for families of all sizes. Snacks will be available for purchase. Come as you are wear soft flexible shoes for dancing. Come to dance or just to listen and watch. No partner is necessary. All dances are taught. This dance is smoke and alcohol free. This advanced Facebook workshop for Business Page Admins will cover how to create three campaigns. A like campaign to potentially increase likes to your Business Page. A Engagement Post to potentially amplify the reach of your posts on Facebook and on Instagram. Finally another ad that could help increase traffic to their website using a Call-to-Action button. These ads require a commitment to spend $5 day minimum for each ad from Facebook to go live. We will walk through each of the campaigns up until purchase. Attendees will decide if they wish to promote the ads created in the workshop. It s important to have visuals and content ready to use if creating the ad within the workshop. A dual reception for two exhibtions: Revisting WWI: One Hundred Year Later & Summer Craft 2017. In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the United States entering the First World War (1914-1918) on April 6, 1917, the Reece Museum, in partnership with the Museum at Mountain Home on the VA campus, features artifacts from this historic and also devastating conflict. Curated by John Griggs, a Reece Museum student worker who graduated in May of this year, this exhibition delves into the conflict focusing on local residents who supported the allied effort. Revisiting World War I: One Hundred Years Later will continue through July 14. Summer Craft 2017 is an exhibition featuring the members of the Northeast Chapter of Tennessee Craft. Various media will be represented from East Tennessee artists and artisans. The exhibition will open on June 19 and continue through July 21.

Windows 10 is taught Tuesday, May 23 at 6 p.m. If Windows 10 has you confused, this class covers the basics to get your started. Business and News Using LexisNexis is held May 31 at 6 p.m. Learn to use LexisNexis to find business resources such as annual reports, financials, analyst reports, etc. You ll also learn to use LexisNexis to find international newspapers, transcripts from news shows and magazine articles.
