'Black Appalachia: African American Art in Northeast TN' featuring two of the titans of African Appalachian Art - ceramic sculptor Sammie Nicely+ and folk artist Bessie Harvey+, with glass artist Calvin Nicely, and fiber/mixed media artist Lydia Wilson, together with emerging artists Jonathan Adams, Kelsie Dulaney-Hayworth, V. Kelsey Ellis, Shalam Minter and photographer Gediyon Kifle. Please join us this First Friday, August 4th, from 6-8pm, at Tipton Gallery to meet some of the artists. Or visit during the Little Chicago Festival on August 11&12, Friday and Saturday from 3-7pm. Co-presented by the ETSU Multicultural Center, and Department of Art & Design with special thanks to art benefactors Dr. Robert & Martha Alfonso and art writer/collector Allison Alfonso for lending their extensive collection of African Appalachian artists, with support from the Tennessee Arts Commission through the Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant and the First TN Development District. http://artsmagazine.info/calendar.php?view=detail&id=201707301937508336
