This Sunday, August 6, come join us for our Back to School Celebration! At 12:30, immediately following morning worship service, we will be having a festival. There will be inflatables, hot dogs, and snow cones. Also, music will be provided by Tammy Marshall! During the festival, we will also be giving out school supplies to students for the up coming year! Hope to see y all there!

Find out why geology rocks in this workshop all about the wonders of the science of geology. Formulate your own ooey gooey quicksand and make a sinkhole in a cup. Explore the differences between rocks and minerals, then try out a rock and mineral hardness test while learning about Mohs Hardness Scale! A healthy snack is included. Cost $12 for members, $15 for non-members. Ages 5-13. Payment is required with registration by Wednesday, August 2nd. To register, please email reservations@handsonmuseum.org. To ensure a fun, effective, and consistent workshop experience, parents guardians may not present in the workshop.

KAC and YMCA members are invited to Back-To-School Movie Night at the Kingsport Aquatic Center! This year s showing will feature the 80s classic, The Goonies. The sign up board goes up at 5pm and spots usually fill up quick. You can only sign into one time slot. We love talent of all kinds music, poetry, storytelling.....

This intermediate -to - advanced level training is designed for growers who understand the basics of forest farming and are ready to get to work and take their operations to the next level. The multi-day workshop will give growers of forest botanicals like ginseng, goldenseal, black cohosh and more an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience with the technical aspects of individualized planning, growing, and planting. Attendees will hone their plant identification skills, learn propagation methods in a hands-on environment, and prepare voucher specimens. They will gain important background knowledge on federal regulations and learn how to estimate plant populations in the field. During the training, attendees will work together with our experts to develop sample forest farming plans using lands owned by UVA-Wise. This will give plenty of practice and take-home knowledge for attendees to make workable and lasting plans for their own sites. Experts including Jeanine Davis and Eric Burkhart will be guiding participants through a series of activities meant to deepen the grower s skillset, allowing them to further their own forest farming operations back home.
