1. 5th Annual Bristol Half & Half Marathon And 2 Person Relay

Join us for the 5th annual Bristol Half & Half marathon and 2 person relay. Run 2 great states for one great cause. The race starts at Virginia High School and showcases some of Bristol VA TN history and beautiful neighborhoods. You ll finish at historic Stone Castle. The 2 person relay is 7 miles and 6.1 miles. Proceeds benefit American Cancer Society. All half marathon and relay team finishers receive a great finishers medal. Kick off your spring racing season with a great half marathon. Be like the Geico and run in Tenniginia or Virginessee :)

Join us Saturday, April 1 for a vintage base ball game! Rocky Mount is partnering with the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball to host the Knoxville Holstons and the Emmett Machinists of Knoxville as they play base ball by 1864 rules. Explore your fitness abilities with the Deerslayer Obstacle Course Race! We will have 3.2 miles of mixed terrain, paved unpaved areas over hilly forested areas and open fields. Tire flip, Monkey bars, Multi-walls, Bucket Brigade, Rope Climb, Balance Beam and at least 14 more. Reg. deadlines and Entry Fees: Fees are Non-refundable. Jan. 1-31-For Fun $45 person, Competitive $50 person Feb 1-28-For Fun $50 person, Competitive $55 person March 1-30-For Fun $55 person, Compettive $60 person. First Responders Discount: $5 good until March 1, 2017. All racers receive an Event T-shirt and medal Racers Competitive and For Fun must be 15 years of age or older. Proof of age required at Packet Pickup and Race Day Sign-In. All waivers, including parental consent, must be signed prior to race. A Wise County native and graduate of The University of Virginia s College at Wise, Davis is well known to music fans throughout the region as principal songwriter and front man for Folk Soul Revival, one of the area s most respected and beloved acts. Blessed with a balladeer s soulful vocals, Davis has a knack for penning poignant, evocative songs with roots planted firmly in the mountains of his birth. Blending the classic sounds of Yoakam and Nelson with more contemporary singer songwriters like Jason Isbell and Justin Townes Earle, Davis s craft is singularly Appalachian in both timbre and style. Over the years his music has been central to the sound of Folk Soul Revival, yet he sits on a collection of songs that have gone unrecorded by the band. The RTE 23 Listening Room will provide a sound stage for this assemblage of unreleased material and offer a new perspective on this authentic and multi-talented artist. Davis achieved second place in the Merlefest s prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest in 2013 for the song Homesick. With Folk Soul Revival Davis has released four albums, with a fifth now in production, and performed at a number of major festivals and esteemed venues throughout the Southeast including Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Floydfest, The Carter Family Fold, Asheville s The Grey Eagle, and The Basement in Nashville.
