1. 2017 Master Gardener Training Program

The 2017 Master Gardener Training program begins January 10 and runs through May 2 on Tuesday evenings, 6-9 pm. The 50-hour program is open to applicants throughout Southwestern Virginia and Northeastern Tennessee. The course is based on a wealth of educational materials developed by Virginia Cooperative Extension, a community outreach program of Virginia Tech. It s the perfect forum to develop and enhance gardening skills of all levels and the perfect opportunity to meet others that share your interest in gardening! Early bird registration cost is $135 which includes a copy of the Master Gardener Handbook. Two people may register together for a reduced rate of $180 per pair. After Dec. 21st, the price is $155 for individuals or $200 for a pair. Applications are due by December 21, 2016. Registration ends January 3, 2017. The Kingsport Carousel will offer free rides on Saturday January 7 from 10 am to 5 pm. (Last ride at 4:50 pm). The free rides are sponsored by an anonymous patron who grew up in Kingsport and now seeks to honor his parents and help his hometown celebrate its 100th birthday. Kingsport is a wonderful place to grow up, the gentleman remarked. My parents have always done a lot of volunteer work supported many ways to improve the lives of children. This is my way to honor my parents and give back to the community that I grew up in. The Kingsport Carousel is a working menagerie-style Carousel that includes 32 platform animals and 2 chariots and many elements of art that have been hand-crafted and hand-painted by over 300 volunteers. The Carousel is a volunteer-led project that begs in in 2010 and opened to the public in July 2015. The Carousel is open year round 5 days a week and located at 350 Clinchfield Street. Prayer that Moves Mountains is the new, monthly community prayer gathering at Preaching Christ Church in Downtown Kingsport. The Bible teaches in Hebrews 10:25 that Christians should not neglect to meet together, but actually all the more as we near the coming of Christ. For many of us, Sunday mornings isn t enough! We want to gather and pray, encourage one another and hear from the Lord more frequentty. Thereofre, we are creating a monthly prayer gathering that we pray will turn into more gatherings where we invite the Lord into our lives and families and see Him move in new and fresh ways. You are invited to join us as we pray for the needs of our church family, our community and others who submit prayer requests to us. These prayer gatherings will be approximately 40-45 minutes with some music, a brief devotion or exhortaion from a pastor and a time of individual as well as corporate prayer. Enjoy coffee and getting to know others after the prayer gathering. Free Child Care is provided Everyone is welcome, whether you attend PCC or not. The community is welcome.

8. Manatees And Diving = Amazing Three Day Trip!

Join Immersed Scuba on our most popular U.S. trip of the year! We will be staying at the Beautiful Waterfront Best West Crystal River. This hotel is conveniently located on the water and is where we load our privately chartered boats to see the manatees. On Friday at 4pm, Zach and Dale will lead one dive before sunset. Then once the sun goes down they will do a night dive for our more adventurous divers. Saturday is full of fun for everyone! After breakfast at the hotel, we will load the boats and our staff will guide you in the search for manatees! We will be on the water from 8am to Noon. This is a perfect time for the entire family to get in the water and snorkel with manatees. Unlike most tours, by renting the entire boat, we get to spend hours of time interacting with the manatees. Manatees are so inquisitive you will fall in love with them instantly! Water temperature is 72, but the air will be chilly so please bring a 3mm-5mm wet suit. If you don t have one that s ok, the dive shop located at the hotel has them availablefor rent. Saturday Afternoon, Any one that still has energy can join Dale at Devils Den. This dive site is one of the most interesting in the US. To enter the dive site, you have to go down stairs through a little cave opening where the lagoon awaits you. Once down the stairs, there are decks, waist deep, to put on your fins. When you look up you can see the sky through an opening above you. This gives you the feeling of being under the earth but with the reassurance you can see the sky. This is Zach s favorite spring in Florida. It is a great place to dive for fun, do check off dives, or build confidence diving through swim throughs. Water temp is 72 and the bottom does not silt up. Snorkeling is also welcome but you have to be 6 years old. Sunday Morning we wrap up this great weekend with breakfast at the hotel, then off to Rainbow River (8am) for a drift dive or snorkel. The Rainbow River is the cleanest drift dive you will find on our coast. Water temp is 72 and the visibility is 30-50 FEET in a river! This is a great
